What You’ll Learn Here ​

Music Base does not make you start by learning notation or overwhelm you with dozens of terms. It starts with things you already know how to do with your ears and body: nod to the beat, tell high sounds from low ones, hum a melody, and feel whether a chord has come “home.”

After completing the introductory path, you should be able to:

• Follow a song’s beat and tell tempo, meter, and rhythm apart
• Hear whether sounds are high or low, how far apart they are, and the difference between melody and chords
• Understand how scales, keys, and chords create stability and expectation
• Recognize verses, choruses, repetition, and return
• Understand what musical terms describe instead of just memorizing them

Your First Lessons ​

Follow these stops in order. Each one begins with something to hear or try, then introduces its formal name.

The linked lessons are currently written in Chinese. This English page follows the same route so you can see exactly where each link leads.

Try It with a Familiar Tune ​

Choose a song you know. As you listen, do not rush to read the notation. Notice just three things: which piano key lights up, the solfège syllable for each note, and whether the melody moves up or down.
